I have been working on my family tree and have been snagged with intrigue and interest upon discovering "Fairfield." Joel and Miriam had eighteen children!
They needed a big house. It has an interesting history. No wonder that it became an Inn before it was a hospital, etc.
I am very appreciative of this article and especially grateful for the map showing the location of the structure. Some records indicate there were originally 180 acres. It was the arm that was first named "Fairfield."
Elisabeth BANSARD elisamelita@hotmail.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04904847686311356706noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3404245910754134433.post-43144776133124645312020-09-18T16:13:12.288-05:002020-09-18T16:13:12.288-05:00No but I think I have a family tree.No but I think I have a family tree.Nashville Historyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00469809363224265156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3404245910754134433.post-77151304375026778662020-09-10T00:21:31.176-05:002020-09-10T00:21:31.176-05:00Did you blog about the Lewis Family? She said her mother's reply to that was, "A camel to ride on and a light to find my way."Nashville Historyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00469809363224265156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3404245910754134433.post-51043745578322860222017-02-24T14:16:54.190-06:002017-02-24T14:16:54.190-06:00This was fascinating. What particularly piqued my interest is the fact that Green Street Church of Christ (which started in 1894) was across the street from the property. I notice that on the 1908 Hopkins Atlas map, if I'm reading it correctly, Green Street CofC is referred to as "Campbellite Church." So fascinating how that nomenclature ended up on a map.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07547258232685265274noreply@blogger.com
