There is not one brick on Deaderick between Third and the War Memorial Building from my childhood. All through grade school my mother outfitted me for school every fall at Gilbert's on the Square. The building had formerly been Waggoner's Hotel. I also remember Tony the Chili King, the Fun Shop, Sam Jarkey's Boot and Shoe and many more places along the street.
