Shelby Hall, Fatherland, Boscobel
I am researching the houses that were built by John Shelby in East Nashville. Reportedly there were three, Shelby Hall [later renamed Fatherland], Boscobel and a new house built about 1855 called Fatherland. There is a lot of misinformation in published reports. I am putting together deeds, maps, wills, old news accounts, anything I can find that might shed light on the homes. Stay tuned....

I just bought a house on Boscobel and am curious about the history of it... how would I go about fining that? Any suggestions?

You probably can find out a lot by doing a deed search at the register of deed's office. You can research the address in Nashville City Directories at the Metro Archives or at the Tennessee State Library and Archives. You can check nashville.gov/mpc and nashville.gov/assessor to find info on your house.
